A dog walker alerted animal welfare officers after making the discovery on Monday.
Officers are investigating whether the reptile was alive or dead when it was set alight.
The charred remains were found in a cardboard box on a path known as The Avenue in Carronshore.
Scottish SPCA inspector Nicola Liddell said: The snake had been set alight in a cardboard box on the riverside pathway.
We are awaiting the results of a post-mortem which will establish the cause of death and if the snake was alive when it was set on fire.

Causing an animal unnecessary suffering is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.
Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
