Sixth man jailed in county lines drug operation targeting Edinburgh
A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for his role in a cross-border county lines drug operation in Edinburgh.
Imer Quashi was handed a sentence of four years and six months at the High Court in Edinburgh today (Monday) following a major investigation by Police Scotland.
He becomes the sixth person jailed as part of Operation Galvanize, which saw officers target addresses in Edinburgh and London last September in a crackdown on the ‘Tommy’ drug line - a network supplying cocaine throughout the capital.
Police say several men were involved in delivering drugs across the city as part of a wider criminal enterprise.
Detective Sergeant Mark Walker said: “This group delivered drugs on demand and didn’t care that their packages were destroying lives and impacting families and the local community – all they cared about was profit.”
He added that the disruption of the gang had a “significant impact” on Edinburgh’s cocaine supply, and praised the joint work between police forces north and south of the border.
“Operation Galvanize was a cross-border operation which illustrated the benefit of close partnership working and sharing information.”
Police are continuing to urge anyone with concerns about drug supply to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
