Forth News is hearing from a shop assistant about the terrifying moment an Edinburgh sweet shop was robbed at knifepoint.

It happened at the 'Candy Land' store on Gorgie Road at around 10:15pm on Tuesday.

Adjana Mason was working there at the time when a man burst in, threatened her and demanded money from the till.

She says: "I was just thinking it's still a steady time for us, maybe somebody is in their car outside and has seen this, maybe they can call the police. I was just trying to buy time really and he was scraping all the money up and screaming at me.

"I could tell that he was obviously quite desperate and didn't want to be doing what he was doing. So if he hands himself in that's probably the best scenario."

Detective Sergeant Todd Rutherford from Corstorphine CID said: "While neither of the shop workers were injured during this robbery, it was a very distressing incident for them both and we are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to find the suspect.

"If you remember seeing any suspicious activity around the Candy Land store on Tuesday evening, or if you have any other information that can assist with our ongoing inquiries, should contact police immediately.

A three-figure sum of money was stolen before the suspect ran off east along Gorgie Road.

Officers say inquiries are now ongoing to find the man, who has been described as white, between 20-35 years-old, and was wearing dark clothing.
