Shaw delighted to score equaliser for Hibs
Hibernian striker Oli Shaw admits he was delighted to grab a goal that counted against Kilmarnock following his Edinburgh derby controversy.
The 19-year-old cancelled out striker Kris Boyd's 69-second opener in Saturday's 1-1 draw after goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald spilled John McGinn's corner.
Shaw netted his fourth of the season - but his tally should be even bigger after the marksman's 'goal' in Wednesday's draw with city rivals Hearts was not given, despite narrowly crossing the line.
The teenager was well positioned to capitalise on MacDonald's error and was thrilled to get on the scoresheet against Killie.
He said: ''It was good to get the goal. I was a wee bit fortunate but they all count.
I got told before the game to hang on their keeper and if he spilled anything to be sharp. Thankfully I was there to tap it in - and I made sure it went over the line this time.''
Shaw has become a recognised member of head coach Neil Lennon's first team squad after starting the last three matches.
Despite the emergence of Shaw, Hibs assistant coach Garry Parker admitted that the Easter Road side will look to bolster their attacking options during the January transfer window.
Parker explained: ''We'll maybe look at strikers as well because we're not scoring enough goals.
But we've had a good season and we'll look at things now and see what we can bring in.''
A share of the points for Kilmarnock ensured that Steve Clarke's side finished 2017 in sixth place in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
A rich vein of form has seen the Rugby Park outfit win four matches during a six-game unbeaten run.
Boyd scored his 12th goal of the campaign and his 211th of his Scottish top-flight career, moving the 34-year-old above Hearts great Jimmy Wardhaugh to fourth on the club's all-time scoring charts.
Clarke praised the marksman's prowess in front of goal, saying: ''It's another good finish, Kris is a goalscorer and you know if he gets the ball in and about the penalty box, he is capable of scoring - and that's what he did.
The boost for us is that in a tough game we managed not to lose. We got a point, which is pleasing.
It has been a good December, I said that to the players: four wins, two draws from a big month and it has certainly given us a good platform for the second half of the season.''
