Police search for teenager who 'performed sex act on train'

Police are appealing for witnesses after receiving a report a man carried out a sex act on himself on a train travelling through the Borders.

The incident is alleged to have happened on the 2.28pm service from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverley on Friday, March 10th.

A woman is said to have spotted the man, who sat opposite her after the train stopped at Newcastle, between 5.50pm and 7.30pm.

The suspect is described as 17-18 years old, white, 6ft tall, and of "proportionate build". He had sandy-coloured hair, which was shaved at the side and longer on the top.

He was wearing a multi-coloured patterned, 90s-style bomber jacket, with black across the shoulders; a bright purple t-shirt and loose-fitting blue jeans.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened on the East Coast Main Line service, or has any information to come forward and assist the investigation.
