Scotrail Promises Longer Trains On Busy Borders Railway

Published 15th Sep 2015

ScotRail has bowed to pressure from passengers and is putting extra carriages on its trains on the Borders Railway.

We reported yesterday how the company's Facebook page had been flooded with complaints about overcrowding.

The changes come in today and include longer trains on the busiest daily and weekend services.

Some services will have their capacity doubled from two carriages to four.

Phil Verster is from the ScotRail Alliance which represents both the operator Abellio and Network Rail.

He told us: "We are really excited about the uptake we have had and I think the increased capacity will serve our customers really well".
