The City of Edinburgh Council has confirmed the impact teacher strikes will have on schools in the city next week.

Members of the EIS, NASUWT and AHDS will take industrial action over two days.

Primary School staff are set to walk out on Tuesday (January 10) which the local authority has confirmed will mean all Primaries will be shut to pupils.

The following day (Wednesday January 11th) Secondary teachers will take to the picket line, meaning all pupils in those age groups will not be in.

A number of 'Special Schools' will also be closed.

Kaimes, St Crispin, Braidburn, Oaklands, Redhall Primary, Rowanfield Primary, and Prospect Bank Primary will not open to pupils on the Tuesday.

On Wednesday the following will be shut: Gorgie Mills Secondary, Pilrig Park Secondary and Woodlands Secondary.

In a letter to parents and carers Acting Head of Schools Lorna French said that families of children and young people with an income-based entitlement to free school meals will recieve a payment of ÂŁ2.50 for the strike day, that'll be made alongside the February school holiday payment at the end of this month.

Out of school care will also not operate on the Tuesday.

Term time nursery classes within primary schools will be closed. All other settings will be open. Specific arrangements will be emailed separately.
