Ryan Edwards sets sights on silverware after joining Hearts
Ryan Edwards is targeting cup success with Hearts after they snapped him up on a free transfer from Partick Thistle.
The Australian has agreed to join the Jambos after being part of the Thistle side that suffered relegation to the Scottish Championship following the play-off against Livingston.
Edwards spent three seasons at Firhill, making over 100 appearances and scoring eight goals in all competitions - with five of those coming this campaign - and had brief spells with Perth, Fleetwood and Reading.
He is the seventh player to be added by manager Craig Levein since the end of the season as they look to improve on last season's sixth-placed finish.
And Edwards hopes his arrival can help push Hearts further up the table and boost his international hopes.
I have sat down one-on-one with the manager and had a good chat about what he expects from me and the team going forward,'' he revealed to Hearts TV.
The ambition is there on a personal level for me to be in a team that is going to challenge for cups and challenge at the top end of the table, and try to get into Europe next season.
On a personal level, it (the move) could be really important for me to get into the national team, which is something I want to make happen and have been close previously.
Hopefully performances now can help me achieve that.''
He added: I'm really excited and happy to be here.
It was disappointing time last season to finish with relegation at Thistle but I'm really grateful for Hearts and to the manager for giving me the opportunity to play for Hearts and be here now.'
