Road fatalities down in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife

Figures dropped across Scotland last year.

The number of people who died in crashes on the roads in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife dropped in 2015.

26 people died in reported accidents across the region, which is down from 32 in 2014.

New Transport Scotland figures show fatalities dropped to 168 across Scotland, which is 17% less than the previous year.

The number also show the total number of people killed or injured fell by three per cent between 2014 and 2015 from 11,307 to 10,968, which is the lowest number since records began.

There were three fewer pedal cyclists killed, 15 less pedestrian fatalities, as well as three fewer motorcyclists killed.
