Rick Astley is playing a Lanarkshire man who had a gorilla statue stolen last year in a new music video for the indie band, Blossoms.

Gary disappeared last March and Andrew Scott, who runs Reynard Garden Centre in Carluke, has been on the hunt for him ever since.

He told Forth 1: "We found out from the band over the weekend about what they're planning to do, I am absolutely chuffed to bits.

"To hear about this new indie era is quite a revelation and this has made me feel ten years younger."

The band decided to call their new album and title track after Gary when they heard about the search for the eight-foot fibreglass statue on the radio last year.

Half of it was returned to Andrew earlier this year and he hopes this will help to get the other half back.

He added: "There is a not a day that goes by when people don't ask how we are getting on looking for him.

"Every time I am out and about I am asked about him and I hope this will eventually lead to his recovery."
