Re-appeal for witnesses after woman attacked in Dunfermline park
Officers believe the suspect might have an injured hand following the incident.
Police in Fife are continuing to appeal for witnesses one week after a woman was assaulted in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline.
The incident happened around 6.20am on Sunday, 24 May, which detectives are treating as assault with intent to rape.
A 25-year-old woman walked into the park when she was followed by a man who came from Pittencrieff Street and pushed her to the ground. The woman struggled with the man before he ran off in the general direction of Peacock Sanctuary.
The suspect is described as approximately 30 to 40-years-old, average build, between 5ft 7in to 5ft 9in tall with short dark hair. He was wearing dark framed round glasses, dark clothing and dark running shoes.
Officers have since established the suspect might have an injured hand following the incident.
Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan, Fife Public Protection Unit, said: "Our enquiries have been ongoing and we have conducted a number of high visibility patrols in the area to provide reassurance and speak to potential witnesses.
"Thankfully, the victim was able to fend the suspect off before she was potentially seriously hurt and she may have injured the suspect's hand in the process. I would encourage anyone that may know of someone with a recent hand injury who they have concerns about to contact us."
