Rangers have confirmed Greg Stewart and Bongani Zungu have departed the club.

Stewart's contract has expired and will leave after a two-year spell at Ibrox.

The former Kilmarnock and Aberdeen man made 33 appearances in his time at the club and netted three goals.

Zungu will return to parent club Amiens after a season-long loan spell.

Steven Gerrard's side were believed to have had an option to buy the midfielder this summer but have chosen not to take it up.

The South African played 21 times last season as the Light Blues lifted the Premiership title.

The 28-year old also spent a spell on the sidelines after being banned by the Scottish FA for breaching coronavirus protocols and attending an illegal gathering.

Sporting director Ross Wilson told the club website: “We made a number of changes to the squad last summer and the group has a real strength and connection in it between all of the players.

"Greg and Bongani were two really positive influences and popular members around the group.

“As a Rangers fan I know how much it meant to Greg to help the club clinch the league championship and I am delighted he moves on to his next challenge as a league champion.”

Several youth academy players are also leaving the club this summer.

Daniel Finlayson is joining St Mirren while Jamie Barjonas has sealed a move to League Two Kelty Hearts.

Nathan Young-Coombes, Zac Butterworth, Ciaran Dickson, Dapo Mebude, Matthew Shiels, Harris O’Connor, Brian Kinnear and Nicky Hogarth will also depart.
