Queen to visit Musselburgh Racecourse for its 200th anniversary
She'll also watch the races with the Duke of Edinburgh.
The Queen will enjoy one of her favourite pastimes today as she visits Musselburgh Racecourse to mark its 200th anniversary.
Along with the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen will unveil a sculpture to mark the anniversary before taking her seat in the stand to watch the races.
The royal couple last visited the course near Edinburgh in 1995 when the Queen opened a stand named after her.
Racecourse chief executive Bill Farnsworth said: We are thrilled and honoured to host Her Majesty and Prince Philip in a double celebration of her landmark 90th birthday and the 200th year since racing was established at Musselburgh.
The Queen is synonymous with horseracing and we are delighted she has decided to visit Musselburgh as part of Holyrood Week and put the royal seal on our 200th birthday celebrations. We are sure she will see many changes since she last visited in 1995 and we hope to put on an exciting race day for her and the royal guests.''
The Queen and Duke will also visit the historic Hamilton and Inches jewellers in Edinburgh where they will view a display of artefacts and meet craftsmen, including some who are part of the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust founded to allow promising young people develop their skills by working with masters of their craft.
It comes at the end of Royal Week in Scotland during which the Queen has held a number of engagements including a garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
