Pupil struck by ceiling tile at Oxgangs primary school
Safety checks are being carried out at Oxgangs primary school after a pupil was struck by a ceiling tile.
The debris fell from the roof of a general purpose room within the school during after-school club yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
A girl was hit by the tile but was not injured.
Amey - the contractors responsible for the maintenance of the building - are today carrying out tests on other ceilings within the school.
Edinburgh Council says it will also carry out its own investigation into the incident.
Back in 2016, the collapse of an external wall at Oxgangs Primary led to the temporary closure of 17 schools across the capital.
