The screening of a controversial documentary in a University of Edinburgh lecture hall has been prevented from going ahead after protestors stormed into the theatre.

The film 'Adult Human Female' has been branded transphobic by some Uni groups - although organisers, academics for academic freedom, refute that claim.

It's described as "Documentary, defending women, safeguarding, science and reason." by the film-makers.

This evening before the event a group of students and staff set up a stall outside the George Square campus handing out leaflets about lived trans experiences.

It's understood a number of activists then entered the building to block entrances to the theatre.

After this security are said to have advised the screening move to another because of safety reasons - meaning the viewing didn't go ahead.

Some social media users have claimed Police attended the incident - we've asked Police Scotland for comment.

Organisers have said they do intend to reschedule the showing of the film.

Radio Forth has asked the AFAF for comment on the incident.
