Prisoner found after escaping from security van in Edinburgh

A prisoner who allegedly escaped from a security van in Edinburgh sparking a major police search has been traced.

19-year-old Conlon Carr was being taken to St Leonard's Police Station from Polmont Young Offender’s Institute at around 11:35am when he absconded from a G4S van.

Officers carried out searches near Arthur's Seat and in the St Leonard's area of the city.

The teenager was found near Craigmillar Castle at around 2:45pm.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
