Roads surrounding Princes Street in Edinburgh were blocked earlier after a fire in one of the buildings this afternoon.

Buses were also diverted and the trams were suspended during the incident.

More than 30-firefighters had remained on-site to deal with the "large" ground floor fire at the Debenhams building situated on the iconic shopping street.

But there were no reports of anyone being hurt.

Our senior reporter, Bryan Rutherford said it was reported just before 13:30 afternoon.

He told Forth News: "Princes Street was closed after nine fire trucks rushed to the scene following a call about a ground floor fire in the Debenhams building.

"Fire crews were stood down just before half-five tonight after they'd extinguished the blaze and made the area safe again."
