Hibernian centre-back Ryan Porteous has been in a rich vein of form.
The 23-year-old recently made his Scotland debut and on Saturday (October 8) he scored a brave header to win the game at Easter Road against Motherwell.
His club Captain Paul Hanlon has watched Porteous develop over the past few years, often right next to him in the defensive line.
Hanlon is praising the "strength of character" from Porteous is shrugging off his critics, and delivering top form - whilst tipping the Scot cap to get even better.
"I think he was one of the main ones as a young player coming through that all the lads noticed he was in to take jerseys, he wasn't in to fill up spaces." Said Hanlon.
He continued: "Everyone likes to document how he does the odd rash tackle or the odd mistake.
"That happens with young players it does happen, we've all done it.
"But at the end of the day, the character and the strength he's shown to come through a lot of criticism - a lot of unfair criticism as well that have been labelled at him - he's got that strength of character to produce the performances he is now.
"I think he's getting the respect of everyone now."
Asked if Porteous can go on to get even better the Hibs stalwart Hanlon said:
"Yeah I think so, he's still really young in terms of a centre-half.
"Plenty development in him, and as long as he's here I'll be helping him as much as possible."
