A police officer is said to have sustained serious injuries after a collision between a police vehicle and an HGV.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the A92 between Crossgates and Cowdenbeath at around 1.40pm on Thursday February 27.

It left the road closed south-bound into the evening rush hour.

Police Scotland's control room account later tweeted: "The crash involved a transporter and a police vehicle. The police vehicle had been stationary and assisting a vehicle which had stopped.

"One officer has been airlifted to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries and the A92 westbound remains closed."

Police later confirmed the officer's injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening, although adding he'd been kept in hospital for observations.
