Police Search For Good Samaritan After Water Of Leith Rescue

Published 20th Aug 2015

Police are trying to find a man who helped with a rescue in the Water of Leith in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh on Monday.

A man in his 50s fell into the water at Falshaw Bridge near Arboretum Avenue at around 5pm.

Four women and a man helped get him out and called emergency services but the victim later died in hospital.

Police are now piecing together exactly what happened although they say the incident is not thought to be suspicious.

They have spoken to all of the women involved but there is still one unidentified man who they need to find.

Sergeant Donna Mackay said, “Our condolences are with the friends and family of the victim who passed away, despite the valiant efforts of these five good Samaritans.

“We are eager to trace the final male witness as part of our enquiries.

"We would asked this man, or anyone who may know who he is, to contact police as soon as possible.”
