Police in West Lothian are renewing their appeal for witnesses following a collision on the M9 earlier this month.

A Nissan Almera was struck by another vehicle on the northbound carriageway, near Junction 2 just before 5.30am on 2nd September.

As a result, the Nissan driver lost control and came to a stop in a field next to the motorway. He was taken to hospital due to the effect of the collision on a previous injury and required eight days of treatment before being released.

The driver of the other vehicle did not stop and officers are continuing with their investigation to trace this individual.

Constable Grant Hastie from the Trunks Road Policing Unit said: "Failure to stop after a collision is an offence and we are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to trace the driver of the second vehicle involved in this incident.

"The vehicle that drove off from the scene would have sustained nearside damage as a result of the collision and anyone who believes they have information relevant to our investigation is asked to contact police immediately.

"We would also request that the driver come forward as soon as possible to assist with our inquries." Anyone with information should contact Police on 101.
