Detectives insist they are still treating the disappearance of Fife man Allan Bryant Jnr as a missing person's case - after claims from his father they were looking into a potential homicide.

The 23-year-old was last seen leaving Styx nightclub in Glenrothes in the early hours of November 3rd 2013.

Speaking to Tay News, his father Allan Bryant Snr said he doesn't think his son is still alive.

He said: "I know my son isn't flesh anymore - he's bones.

"That's the reality of it. I just want to get him back and put him to rest.

"The police keep telling the media it's a missing person case but every time the major investigation team is in our house it's actually being treated as a murder case, but they won't admit that in public.

"Homicide guidance keep looking over Allan's case to see if the major investigation team has missed anything.

"They are treating is as a murder case regardless of what they say."

But the detective leading the investigation insists there is nothing to suggest Allan was a victim of crime.

DI Kevin Houlison said: "The enquiries that have been carried out over the last six years have been extensive and there has been no evidence of criminality or that Allan has come to harm at the hands of any other person."

"However we continue to investigate that and we follow up any information that comes into the investigation."
