Police probe teen rape in Edinburgh

Reports of attack on 16-year-old in Princes Street Gardens

A TEENAGE girl’s been raped in one of Edinburgh’s most visited attractions.

Police cordoned off a section of Princes Street Gardens after the attack late last night as forensic officers checked the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.50pm on Saturday 5 June 2021 officers received a report that a 16-year-old female had been seriously sexually assaulted within Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh on Saturday 5 June 2021.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
