Police name 18 year old Fife girl who died when car plunged into river
The teenager had been driving the vehicle when the accident happened.
An 18-year-old who died when the car which she and four others were travelling in plunged into a river has been named by police.
Amy Simpson, of Cowdenbeath, Fife, was driving the Peugeot when it left the road and entered the River Avich at Druimdarroch, Argyll and Bute.
Four female passengers, one aged 17, two aged 18 and a 19-year-old, managed to escape from the car with no serious injuries following the crash, which occurred at about 6.45pm on Tuesday.
Ms Simpson died at the scene, near the village of Dalavich, Taynuilt.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash. A Police Scotland spokesman said: Sergeant Archie McGuire at Campbeltown police office would like anyone who witnessed this incident to contact him via telephone number 101.
