Police Investigate Fire At Old School In Bonnyrigg

Police say they are treating a fire in the roof space of an old school in Midlothian as 'unexplained'.

Officers were called in to investigate after firefighters put out the flames at Hopefield Primary School in Bonnyrigg late last night (Sun).

The whole building has been destroyed and will have to be demolished.

Emergency crews initially received Automatic Fire Alarm call at around 10.15pm, followed by several 999 calls.

Two fire engines raced to the scene but another three were dispatched, along with a turbtable ladder were also mobilised.

The exact cause is not yet known and police have appealed for any witnesses to get in touch.
