Police Investigate Edinburgh Uni "Shooting Threat"
Police have confirmed they're investigating a threat posted to an internet messaging site seemingly threatening an Oregon style shooting at the University of Edinburgh.
A gunman - thought to be 26 year old Chris Harper Mercer - killed 9 people at a college in the US city yesterday.
Before that it's believed he posted details of his plot on an internet site known as 4chan.
Today, another web user posted a similar threat on the site reading: "Hark, my brothers, the Beta Uprising is finally here. Don't go to University of Edinburgh tomorrow
"To all the normies viewing this, keep checking the news, you’ll see a lot of us on the news over the next few days.”
The post also features the image of a cartoon character carrying a shotgun.
Police have confirmed they're investigating the post, but refused to say if the threat's being treated as credible.
In a statement, a spokesman said: "Police Scotland is investigating following reports of a communication posted to a website.
"Enquiries into this communication are currently ongoing."
