Police investigate death of man in East Lothian

An investigation is underway following the death of a 54-year-old man in Haddington, East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to a property in Carlyle Gardens at around 12.40pm on Tuesday, 10 February, after which the man was taken to hospital. He died yesterday (Wednesday). His family have asked for their privacy to be respected.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident on the same day but has since been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Ross Duthie, of the Major Investigation Team, said: "My thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

"We have a dedicated team carrying out extensive enquiries, and a police presence remains in Haddington as part of this investigation.

"Anyone with information or concerns should come forward.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a white Mercedes GLA 200 in the area around the time."
