Police Hunting For Man After Attempted Rape In Kirkcaldy

Published 14th Sep 2015

Police are attempting to trace a man in connection with an attempted rape in Kirkcaldy last night.

A 26-year-old woman was attacked at around half past 10, in a car park, adjacent to a block of flats, on Turriff Place.

It's thought the man began speaking to the woman as she walked along Dalls Drive shortly before. He told the woman that he lived locally and had been drinking earlier in the evening with a friend named ‘Alan’ at an address in Harris Drive.

He is described as being in his 30's, 5ft 7ins tall, and was wearing a dark coloured jacket and light coloured jeans and trainers.

Detective Sergeant Samantha Davidson from Kirkcaldy CID who is leading the enquiry, said: “This was a horrendous ordeal for anyone to go through and an extensive investigation is now underway in order to trace the suspect as quickly as possible.

“Such incidents are thankfully rare and extra high visibility patrols have been deployed to the area.

“I would ask anyone who recognises the description of the man and may have spoken with him earlier in the evening to contact police on 101 or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
