Police in Edinburgh are appealing for help to track down a group of off-road bikers who, it's claimed, caused havoc in the capital and surrounding suburbs on Saturday.

The gang is said to have been seen tearing through the streets of the city centre, Drylaw, Portobello, Leith and Craigmillar from around 11.30am.

Two pedestrians are reported to have been injured following a collision with the bikers in Drylaw at around 1.30pm.

Chief Inspector Alan Carson, of Edinburgh South West, said: However, others have suggested it was an organised ride in tribute to an Edinburgh dad who lost his life

"We take this type of behaviour extremely seriously and will use all the resources at our disposal to deal with it.

"Unfortunately, the message is not getting through to these individuals, despite several fatalities and serious injuries in the past months and years.

I understand how frustrated the public are over this type of dangerous behaviour and we are grateful for their patience.

I urge anyone with information that can assist us to trace those responsible to call us."

Social media users have condemned the group's behaviour, with some saying the bikers were seen mounting pavements and running red lights.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
