Edinburgh cops looking for four men over 'unprovoked attack'

The city centre assault happened in the early hours of Friday 8th March

Officers in Edinburgh have released CCTV images of a group of four men they are looking to trace in connection with an unprovoked attack in March.

It happened around 3am on Friday 8th March 2019 in Victoria Street, a 26-year-old man was injured as the result of an assault and was later taken to hospital to be treated.

Police say the four males shown in the picture taken from CCTV are of interest to this investigation. They are appealing to anyone who recognises the men or has information that could help identify them to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Iona Cory of Gayfield CID said: "This was an unprovoked attack, which resulted in the victim sustaining injuries to his face.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault and anyone who recognises those in the image.

“Similarly, if you have any other information relevant to this investigation then please get in touch."

Those with information can contact Gayfield CID via 101 and quote incident number 363 of 8th March 2019. Alternatively an anonymous report can be made to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
