Police in Edinburgh open investigation into sexual assault of 14-year-old girl

A 14-year-old girl was subjected to a serious sexual assault in a wooded area off a footpath, police have said.

The incident happened in the Clovenstone Road area of Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, at about 9pm on February 3.

It is understood the incident had only recently been reported to police.

Officers have launched an investigation and appealed for information.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: Police in Edinburgh are currently investigating a report that a 14-year-old girl was the victim of a serious sexual assault.

This incident took place in a wooded area off a footpath near to Clovenstone Road at approximately 9pm around February 3.
