Police say they're drawing a blank in the search for a young Livingston man, who's been missing for almost three weeks.

23 year old Matthew Elmer was last seen on the 13th of February, and on that day he told his dad he'd not slept for "several days."

He's not been seen since 6pm that day, and despite a major search effort involving air support, dog units and specially trained search teams detectives say they've found no evidence to suggest where he might be.

People living in the Craigshill, Deadridge, Pumpherston, Uphall Station and Mid Calder areas are being urged to check gradens, sheds and other outdoor buildings in case Matthew has taken shelter in them.

Sergeant Neill McLeman from Livingston Police Station said: “I would first of all like to thank our communities within West Lothian and the wider public for their continued support and assistance as we continue with our efforts to trace Matthew.

“Despite the significant level of search activity carried out by police, partners and Matthew’s family and friends, he has not yet been found and we obviously grow more and more concerned for his welfare as time goes on.

“Matthew knows the Livingston area well and so I would ask residents throughout the region to check the external areas of their properties and contact us immediately should they find anything that may be pertinent to this investigation.

“Similarly, anyone with any further information as to where Matthew may be should also get in touch.”
