Police Appeal After Woman Hit By Bus In Edinburgh

A woman's in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being hit by a bus in Edinburgh city centre.

The accident happened at around 11.10am today (Tuesday 1st September) on Princes Street, at the junction with Lothian Road.

She suffered a head injury, and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

A police investigation's been launched and officers are keen to trace a man who it's believed tried to warn her a bus was coming moments before she was struck.

He's seen on CCTV apparently trying to tell her, before being lost from view.

PC Dominic Doyle of Police Scotland, said: “We have spoken with a number of people who witnessed this incident as part of our ongoing investigation.

“However, through the course of our enquiries, we have identified a man who, it seems, was doing his best to warn the woman about the danger she was in.

“He was seen crossing near McDonald’s in the direction of the Castle before he was lost from view.

“There is absolutely no suggestion that this man did anything wrong but I would ask him to please contact police on 101 so that we can record what happened.”

A stretch of the road was closed while collision investigations were carried out but was reopened to traffic at around 12:25pm.
