An investigation's been launched after a man and a woman were assaulted by masked men in their home in Edinburgh.

The incident happened at around 4am yesterday (9th Feb) at a flat on Gorgie Road.

Two men burst into the property with their faces covered and assaulted two of the occupants.

A 67 year old woman sustained minor injuries, and a 29 year old man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with non-life threatening injuries.

Detective Constable Joyce Gunderson of Corstorphine Police Station said: "This incident happened in the early hours of the morning, however it's possible passing traffic, especially taxi drivers, may have noticed the two men leaving the property.

"If anyone remembers seeing two men acting suspiciously outside around that time please get in touch."
