Police Appeal After Glenrothes Hate Crime Incident

POLICE Scotland has today released a CCTV image of three men they wish to trace in connection with a reported hate crime in Glenrothes last month.

The incident, in which a 19 year-old man was assaulted, happened at around 9:10pm on Sunday, August 23, near to the Kino cinema in Glenrothes Town Centre, a short distance from the Bus Station.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who has information that can help identify these men.

The males are described as follows;

Male 1- white, around 21 years old, about 5ft 7ins, muscular build, black curly short hair with stubble on his face. He spoke with a local accent and wore a tight black t-shirt and black trousers.

Male 2 - white, about 18 years old, approximately 5ft 8ins, slim build, short styled hair, which was dark brown with blond highlights, and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a black coloured reflective jacket and dark blue jeans.

Male 3 - white, about 18 years old, about 5ft 8ins tall, slim build, local accent, wearing a grey coloured hooded top, which he had up the whole time. He also had black coloured cargo trousers on, with two large pockets that appeared to be stained with paint.

DI Stuart Morris who is leading the inquiry said: “We are keen to speak to three males in connection with a disturbing incident, whereby a vulnerable local man was approached and subjected to an unprovoked assault.

“I would ask anyone who remembers seeing the men or who has any relevant information regarding this incident to please contact police on 101 or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”’
