An investigation's been launched after a baby was struck by an egg that had been dropped from a bridge in Dunfermline.

The 7 month old girl was with a group of adults and small children in pushchairs and prams in the Glen area of Pittencrief Park at around 2.30pm yesterday (27th July) when the incident happened.

She wasn't injured, and police are now trying to find the person responsible.

Sergeant Kenny Bow from the Community Investigation Unit in Dunfermline said: "The fact that the child was unhurt during the incident is more down to luck than judgement.

"While we believe that this has been done as a prank rather than out of any malice, it's extremely dangerous to drop any item from height and the consequences could have been much worse for those walking below.

"We would like to remind the public, in particular children, of the risks and consequences of such reckless behaviour.

"With it being the school holidays the Glen was extremely busy and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the culprits, or who has any information, to come forward."
