Two men burst into a bank today (29 Jan 2016), threatened staff with a handgun and a crowbar before making off with a haul of cash on Bicycles.

The two men robbed the TSB branch in Kirkcaldy's Dunearn Drive.

At around 10.40am two men entered the bank and threatened staff with the gun and tool, demanding cash.

A quantity of money - the total amount is yet to be ascertained - was handed over.

The two men then jumped on getaway bikes outside and made off on nearby Alford Avenue.

Police said the men were both wearing dark clothing including black caps, and carried green carrier bags.

Local Area Commander, Chief Inspector Stevie Hamilton said: "Fortunately no-one was injured in what was a frightening incident for the staff and customers at the bank. Officers are currently speaking to witnesses, carrying out searches of the area and making enquiries at neighbouring premises.

"The two men approached on bikes from Alford Avenue and left again in the same direction, so I'm keen to speak to anyone who may have seen them before or after the robbery so we can establish their movements.

"Officers will be carrying out extra patrols of the area, so anyone with any information can speak to them, call Kirkcaldy CID on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
