Plans for huge film studio in Midlothian revealed

New plans for a huge film studio in Midlothian have been revealed.

The developers behind a previous proposal to bring the multi-million pound facility to Straiton have now set their sights on a site near Dalkeith.

PSL Land - whose previous plan was thwarted by a row over land - say they've reached an agreement for a nearby site in Midlothian to build a new studio and film academy.

Rosie Ellison is the Director of Film Edinburgh: "Here in Edinburgh we've had a number of proposals that just haven't quite got over the starting block. Now, here we are in January 2019 with two significant studio developments on the cards, which is great news.

"We all know Avengers filmed here. They were in time for seven weeks of filming, three months of preparations, and that all equated to five minutes of the film. Who knows what that could have been with a film studio on offer.

"If we can get these developments across the line the resulting jobs and opportunities and resulting jobs boost will be so significant. It's something we've got to push for."
