Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team improvise during Pentland Hills rescue

Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team were tasked with rescuing a walker with an ankle injury from the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh last night (Saturday).
But when foul weather prevented a helicopter from helping, they improvised.
As the casualty was near Hillend ski slope, they asked staff if they could use the ski tow to get up the hill - to which they obliged.
And then there was only ever going to be one way to get the casualty back down...

A spokesperson for Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team said: "Luckily the casualty was close to the Hillend Ski slope and, thanks to the ski centre staff, our team members were able to use the ski tow to get up the hill.
"Once the casualty was on our stretcher, the dry ski slope came into its own when we were able to use it to sledge the casualty down to the waiting ambulance at 8.30pm."
The team were called out at 5.45pm. It was their ninth call-out of the year.
