An 86-year-old man has died after a road crash in East Lothian.

William Knox was struck by a black Honda Civic car while crossing the A6093 at Dovecot Park, in Pencaitland, at around 7:10am on Thursday 9th January.

He was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary – but he passed away as a result of his injuries.

A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant John Easton, from Livingston Road Policing Unit said: “Although this happened early in the morning, we know from CCTV that there was a white van in the area just around the time of the crash.

"It was not involved in the incident but the driver may have seen something or have dash-cam footage that may help our investigation.”

"Any information can be passed to officers via 101."
