83-year-old left with broken bones after Dalkeith crash

An 83-year-old woman has been seriously injured after being hit with a car in Dalkeith this weekend, whilst crossing the road

An 83-year-old woman has suffered broken bones after being hit by a car in Dalkeith this past weekend.

The driver of the vehicle is also said to have been left badly shaken by the incident.

It happened around 12:30pm on Saturday (January 7).

The pensioner was crossing Eskbank Road, near Justinlees roundabout, when she was involved in the collision with a Ford Kuga.

Emergency services attended and the 83-year-old woman was taken to hospital for fracture injuries.

The female driver of the car was uninjured.

Enquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Constable Stewart Logan said: “At the time of the incident, traffic was moving quite slowly and I am appealing to motorists who were in the area at the time to contact us with any information they may have. It’s important we have as much information as possible to enable us to establish exactly what has happened.”
