Pavilion Theatre issues show update following Sauchiehall Street blaze

The Pavilion Theatre has released more information for customers about what shows will and wont go ahead in the aftermath of the Sauchiehall Street fire.

The historic venue has been left badly smoke and water damaged but bosses are unable to gain access to being clean up operations because the near-by Victoria's Nightclub needs to be demolished and the area is still unsafe.

Some shows are being rescheduled and others will be moved to different venues or cancelled.

A spokesperson for the Pavillion said: “It is now just over a week since the fire in Sauchiehall Street and just before our staff go off until Tuesday on a well earned break, we thought it is perhaps time to try and explain things regarding rescheduling and potentially cancelled shows. Currently, we have approached all promoters and all have shown their support and thank them all at this time for working with us.

“The current difficulty we are having is that until we can get access to the theatre and a determine the amount of damage and ascertain just how long the cleanup will take, it is impossible to put an accurate timescale on the reopening of the theatre therefore difficult to know when to start rescheduling from. Hopefully, as things progress and potential demolition of the dangerous buildings on Sauchiehall Street is carried out, this will eventually give us access to the theatre.

“The problems we have is that we thought it best to take one show at a time and are now starting to refund shows that we feel will not be rescheduled until well into the later part of the year and felt that we should refund instead of transferring tickets at this time and hopefully, if and when these shows are rescheduled, customers can rebook for these. Some of the shows will unfortunately have to be cancelled due to performers not touring later in the year and again, this will become more apparent as the time goes on.

“All going well, we hope to reopen the box office for telephone sales only later next week. As this is an external location, we cannot accommodate cash sales at this time.

“Shows that we are currently refunding are Rhinestone Cowboy: The Glen Campbell Story and Jukebox Memories.

“Shows that are potentially rescheduling are Jonathan Pie: Back to The Studio; Ed Byrne: Spoiler Alert; A Vision of Elvis and Suggs: A Life In The Realm of Madness

“Rumours of Fleetwood Mac has been relocated to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on the same date, Tuesday 3rd April at 7:30pm. Please arrive early with your original tickets to receive new tickets at the Concert Hall Box Office. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any refund for this show.

“We hope to release information on Remembering Fred; Legend: The Music of Bob Marley; The Real Thing & Odyssey Live; Celtic The Musical; The Witches Fae Easterhoose; The Fureys; Gilbert O’Sullivan and Totally Tina as soon as possible so please keep an eye out on your e-mails or our social media channels, where any updates will be posted first.

“At the current time, we have left on sale shows from 1st June onwards and will be working hard to get things cleaned and the theatre reopened by that time, all going well.

“We hope that you can support us by coming to see these great shows which will all hopefully go ahead and we look forward to announcing further great shows soon.
