Parents of missing French student issue fresh appeal
Antoine Maury, 21, was last seen at about 10pm on Monday October 24 when he suddenly left the company of his friends at Edinburgh College's Milton Road East campus.
The parents of a French student who has been missing for almost two weeks have issued a fresh appeal for information. Antoine Maury, 21, was last seen at about 10pm on Monday October 24 when he suddenly left the company of his friends at Edinburgh College's Milton Road East campus. A man matching his description was later seen between 10.45pm and 11pm near to the Duddingston Village area of Holyrood Park, heading into the park. Police launched a major search for Mr Maury and several specialist units have been deployed, including the dog section and the Police Scotland marine unit. Sonar equipment has been used in the last few days across Duddingston Loch. The missing man's parents Pascal and Laura Maury travelled to Edinburgh last week to be nearby as the investigation into their son's disappearance continues. In a statement released through Police Scotland, the Maury family said: "We are still appealing to the public for any information which can help find our son Antoine. "We want anyone who was in the area of Duddingston, Holyrood Park or Pollock Halls on October 24 between 10.30pm and 11.30pm who saw a male running and walking to contact the police.''
The man seen heading into the park on October 24 who matched the 21-year-old's description was topless.
Mr Maury is described as white, of medium build and with bright green eyes. He is about 6ft with short brown hair, a beard and a fair complexion. He has a tattoo of a bleeding hand on his forearm.
At the last confirmed sighting, Mr Maury was wearing a brown/green bomber jacket with dark chinos and a white beanie hat. He is also believed to have been wearing black and white Vans trainers.
Paris-born Mr Maury suffers from poor eyesight and usually wear glasses but officers believe he is without them.
Inspector Alan Carson, of Edinburgh division, said: "Throughout this enquiry we have sought to provide Antoine's family with the answers they are desperately seeking.
"We are continuing to support and work with them, and I pay tribute to the dignity and courage they have shown throughout this period. "I would again appeal to anyone who may have information to come forward. Even the smallest amount of information may be the key to helping us find Antoine.''
Officers said that more than 464,000 people have been contacted regarding the appeal through Police Scotland's Facebook channels.
