Pair to face trial over murder of Fife woman with hammer
A man and woman are to face trial over the murder of a Fife woman with a hammer.
28-year-old Aaron Donald and 29-year-old Laura McMurdo are accused of killing Claire Turnbull at a Dunfermline flat last October.
Prosecutors say the 36-year-old was held down and struck multiple times with the tool before her death.
The pair face a separate charge of then attempting to defeat the ends of justice. This includes claims the pair changed clothes after the alleged murder and hid the hammer in a bag.
Both deny the charges.
Donald's legal team has lodged a special defence of diminshed responsibility.
The trial will begin in October this year.
