Two men have appeared in court in connection with the attempted murder of a shopkeeper.
Tahir Ahmed suffered a fractured skull after being attacked during an attempted robbery.
He was manning his till at A&A Stores, on the corner of South Trinity Road and Cargill Terrace in Edinburgh, when he was attacked shortly after 5pm on Friday August 12.
Two Edinburgh men have appeared at the city's sheriff court in connection with the incident.
David Allan, 49, and Liam McMeechan, 22, are accused of attempted murder, attempted robbery and assault to severe injury.
McMeechan faces a further charge of police assault.
Both men made no plea or declaration at their court appearances and were committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
McMeechan appeared on Wednesday and Allan's hearing took place on September 1.
Both are expected to appear in court again at a later date.
