Two people detained by police following an armed robbery at an Edinburgh jewellery store have been released without charge.

The 27-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were held yesterday as police searched an address in the Easter Drylaw area of Edinburgh.

An investigation was launched after a man entered the Laing jewellery store in the city's Frederick Street with a handgun at around 9.30am on Monday.

Items including watches worth around £100,000 were taken before he fled the scene.

Police Scotland confirmed today that the man and woman had been released without charge.
