Pair charged after 10-year-old injured in north Edinburgh hit-and-run

Two men have been arrested and charged following a motorcycle hit-and-run collision in north Edinburgh.

A 10-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and continues to be treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children following the incident on Ferry Road on August 19.

Police said a 20-year-old man has now been charged with various offences including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop and report a collision as well as theft of a motorcycle.

A 22-year-old man has also been charged in connection with the incident and will be reported to the procurator fiscal for theft of a motorcycle, dangerous driving and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The 20-year-old man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on August 30.

The 22-year-old man is currently on remand in connection with unrelated offences.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Grainger from Edinburgh CID said: Since this incident occurred we have dedicated significant resources to the investigation, resulting in two men having now been charged.
