Pair arrested and charged over spate of vehicle thefts

Two men have been arrested in connection with 67 vehicle thefts in the the Lothians, Fife, the Scottish Borders and Tayside - costing over £100,000.

Two men have been arrested in connection with 67 vehicle thefts in the the Lothians, the **Scottish Borders,** Fife and Tayside - to the value of over £100,000.

The pair of 22-year-olds appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court charged with the offences, after police seached a number of Edinburgh addresses.

It comes after officers launched Operation Delano, which investigated thieves who are targeting vans to gain entry and steal power tools.

The total value of stolen property and damage to vehicles from the past year is thought to be around £108,333.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Healy, of Livingston Police Station, said: "We understand the impact these crimes have on the local communities and we carried out extensive enquiries.

"This is a good result for our officers across the three divisions, as well as officers from Northumbria Constabulary who assisted with our operation.

"Rest assured we treat these crimes with the utmost seriousness and anyone with information regarding vehicle crime is always urged to contact us on 101."
