A Livingston nursery is offering free childcare for workers impacted by the closure of the Kaiam plant in the town as they attend job interviews.

More than 300 people were made redundant when the tech-firm closed its doors just weeks before Christmas.

Thousands of pounds to support the workers has been raised by a crowdfunding appeal.

Now, local 'Wee Gems Nursery' is offering to look after the children of those employees as they attend interviews - at no cost.

Director Mayhar Mortazavi told Forth News: "I know that is often the most difficult part for people going to interviews. So we have asked them to register with us and then they can give us notice for the day they are going for the interview.

"It makes sense to support people locally. These are people that in the future may go out and support others in the community. West Lothian is the kind of community where people come together and it works well.

"It's amazing to see others helping. We all know that there are not enough jobs and facilities to support these guys so it's up to everyone else to help."
