North Berwick motorcyclist killed in East Lothian road crash
A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car in East Lothian.
Robert Burgess, 31, from North Berwick, was killed in the incident on Dirleton Avenue in the town at around 11.30am on Saturday.
His Yamaha motorbike collided with a Nissan Note.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Sergeant Roger Park said: 'Sadly, Mr Burgess passed away as a result of the injuries he sustained in this collision and my thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time. They have requested to be left alone to grieve in private as they come to terms with this tragic event and we will do all we can to support them as and when they need it.'
He added: 'Our inquiries into this collision are ongoing and, as in all cases of sudden death, a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal. In the meantime, I appeal to anyone who was in the area of Dirleton Avenue around the time of this incident, or who may have witnessed the collision itself, to please contact police immediately on 101.'
